Its summer and three friends from Ohio graduate college, ready to start making their way in the real world.

Rhys; the eternal optimist who wants to be an actor and moves to Los Angeles.

Erick; the career man, seeking money and position who moves with him.

And Joey; the aspiring artist, who for the love of his girlfriend, Cheryl, stays behind in Ohio.

While attempting to follow their dreams each must face their share of personal and professional obstacles. Each is tested. Will they lose sight of themselves?

Will old friendships fall apart and new friendships form?

I did not know exactly what to expect as I started reading this amazing story by John Wiley. It took me completely by surprise when I discovered how in-depth it got in what makes friendships work or fail, how it explored life after college, the way young people evolve and how their priorities change. Work, new friends, old friends, love and dating, live throwing curve balls, it all blends in and there’s no stop button for anyone, the characters, or the reader.

I did not expect to like Rhys so much, or dislike Erick. Nor did I expect to get so swept into Joey’s life, or to secretly hope, right from the start, that Liam would and up playing a bigger part. If you’ve ever had to move away from what you knew, for college or after that, and then face everything changing at a fast pace, you will totally relate to these characters. Their stories seemed real, not overly dramatic, yet dead serious, bitter-sweet at times, yet somehow hopeful. I totally recommend this book for a great slice-of-life contemporary story!
