LAPD Detective Sean Hennessey has one person he’s repeatedly tried to arrest and bring to justice: his nemesis, Mitchell Yates.

Yates has been in and out of trouble for years, always skating around the edges of LA’s underbelly; however, Sean can never pin anything on him.

But one night all of that changes.

Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, instead of arresting Yates, Sean is rescued by him and taken to Yates’ home—a satellite high above Earth. There, Sean discovers a world he thought possible only in Science Fiction.

Everything he believed he knew about Yates is turned upside down, and Sean must make a decision: to remain with the LAPD or join Yates and work toward intergalactic peace.

This was a new type of gay science fiction story for me. More on the TV series style than one single story told throughout the book. The adventures on Earth, on the satellite Home, and on other worlds throughout the universe are held together by Sean and Yana’s love story. The two main characters meet under less than friendly circumstances, later fall in love, and then develop their relationships through many trials, from jealous past lovers to warrior aliens.

The premise of a human looking yet alien race whose only purpose is to maintain peace in the universe is a very interesting one. Intergalactic peace seems like the perfect calling for former detective Sean, but it takes a lot of training and trust, especially when teaming up with his lover.

The action jumps from one chapter to another, so you will see our heroes go from Home to fighting to save each other on off world stations, sneaking in to steal intel, or being left to die on a cold, wild planet. As I said earlier, it almost feels like episodes of a TV series, which is a matter of taste. But we all know how addicted I am to some TV series, so obviously I’ve enjoyed it 😀
