Review

Although a fast read, Sweet William is fully immersive. You will be swept in a time in Boston history where people moved at a different pace, yet the divide between the rich and the poor was just as great. Being gay got you arrested if discovered, and people could simply be abducted and forced to work on ships without anyone ever finding out.

Sounds like a troubled period for the heir of a rich family, William, to be in love with his former tutor, Frederick, a man who was chased away by William’s father when glimpses of their relationship were discovered. Frederick himself thinks William deserves better. And if their own personal issues are not enough, Frederick gets kicked out of his home because his employer is a little late on payment, to then get into even more serious trouble.

Will William save him? Will they manage to make it through everything and be together? You’ll have to read to find out. It’s fine though, once you start, you won’t be able to put the book down!
